On Friday, September 8, 2023, Representative Suzan DelBene visited Lake Stevens to present a $2.5 million check to the city. These federal funds will go towards the 20th Street NE and Main Street project to improve travel safety. The project consists of safety upgrades, multi-modal paths for drivers, bikers, and pedestrians, trees and street lighting, accessible ramps, and the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of 20th Street NE and Main Street. 

“With the support of Congresswoman DelBene’s office, Washington state and our City Council, we have been able to move the downtown revitalization forward from an idea to reality,” said Lake Stevens Mayor Brett Gailey. “The road improvements at the intersection of 20th Street NE and Main Street will increase safety for drivers and pedestrians traveling to and from downtown Lake Stevens as a community destination.”  

The 20th Street NE and Main Street project is built on the momentum to revitalize Lake Stevens’ downtown while preserving existing businesses, improve economic development, and increase traffic and pedestrian safety along Main Street. Thank you to Representative DelBene for your support, with these funds the project will continue to move forward, and construction will start in 2024. The city looks forward to continuing our relationship with Representative DelBene’s office and working together on more projects in the future. The City of Lake Stevens will continue to partner with Legislative offices to support important projects that help our city to grow and thrive.
