Doing business in Lake Stevens includes not only small business owners, whom we have a heart for, but also mid-sized businesses that can invest in our community to help meet the needs of our growing lakeside family. As a city, we are also looking for ways to do business with you! It’s a two-way street where you can find all the information.

Lake Stevens is a growing community with new and exciting opportunities arriving all the time. It can be overwhelming trying to wade through the different types of land use and development permits, so here, you will find links to apply for most of our available permits, submittal requirements, informational forms, and fees. If you have questions or can’t find what you’re looking for, contact us at permits@lakestevenswa.gov and we’ll be happy to help.

Types of online permits available:
As of September 2020, all building and demolition permits associated with commercial & residential projects are available for online submission as well as all land use applications.
Who can apply?
You must be either the property owner, an agent of the owner, or a Washington State licensed contractor.
Code Enforcement is primarily responsible for enforcing the sections of the Lake Stevens Municipal Code (codepublishing.com) that address public health and safety, as well as quality of life issues. These reports are often addressed and handled in conjunction with other city departments and/or local and state agencies.
What Happens?
When a report is filed, a Code Enforcement Officer will verify that there is a violation of Lake Stevens Municipal Code (LSMC). If so, Code Enforcement will work with the property owner and/or occupant to gain voluntary compliance through education and outreach. Failure to comply within the specified timeline may result in enforcement Chapter 17.20 ENFORCEMENT PROCESS (codepublishing.com). As time allows, a Code Enforcement Officer may proactively address violations observed while on routine patrol.
You may purchase a dog or cat pet license at City Hall, using a public computer in our lobby - 1812 Main Street.
- Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. -- Closed for lunch noon - 1 pm.
- Friday 9 am - noon.
You can apply online for a dog or cat lifetime pet license. You can also apply for a replacement license tag if tag is lost or unreadable. If you are unsure if your are within the City of Lake Stevens city limits or have questions, please call (425) 622-9400.
✔ All dogs and cats shall be licensed within sixty days (60) of City residency, including dogs and cats in newly annexed areas.
✔ Lifetime pet licenses will be free if application is submitted within sixty day (60) period; otherwise pet license will cost $20 per pet.
✔ Payments must be made with your MasterCard or VISA.
The City of Lake Stevens has a new Service Request Portal to better facilitate the community! This application is for repairs, maintenance, and needed assets. A few examples are, a knocked-over sign, sidewalk uplift issue, flooding, sign install, potholes, etc...
You now can submit requests from anywhere using the CitizenVUE app! (mobile app available in app store).

The City of Lake Stevens is a member of the Washington Cities Insurance Authority (WCIA), which is a liability-property pool with over 125 members. The City’s Risk Management Division processes citizens’ tort claims against the City and provides loss control and risk management support services to other City departments.
Before filing a tort claim against the City, please read the instructions and the Claim for Damages form in its entirety. Claim for Damages forms are available at Lake Stevens City Hall, 1812 Main Street, Lake Stevens, or can be downloaded below. Note that the length of an investigation into a claim will vary greatly depending on the complexity of the issues and the availability of documents and witnesses to substantiate causation and damages.
State law requires an original signature on the Claim form which means forms cannot be submitted electronically (via e-mail or fax). Claim forms can be presented in person or mailed to the address below.

If the public records you requested are readily available, you may receive the requested material at that time. If your request is more complex or possibly contains confidential information, you will be informed when your request will be available. See RCW 42.56, Public Records Act.
