Lake Stevens City Council is evaluating alternatives to form a Transportation Benefit District to provide additional revenue for transportation projects. Many cities in Washington have already established Transportation Benefit Districts to generate revenue for projects that include street overlays, sidewalks, crack sealing, maintenance and safety improvements. At its December 18, 2018 meeting the City Council adopted Ordinance 1043 establishing a Transportation Benefit District.

The City  also adopted Resolution 2018-34 setting a public hearing on January 8, 2019 at 7:00 pm at the Lake Stevens School District Education Service Center (Admin. Building) 12309 22nd Street NE to received public comment regarding the the Lake Stevens City Council's intent to assume the rights, powers, functions and obligations of the Lake Stevens Transportation District.
