[ARCHIVED] CITY RESPONSE TO COVID-19 (CORONAVIARUS)

With the spread of the COVID-19 through Western Washington, the City is proactively taking steps to ensure the health and safety of its residents.  On March 5, 2020 the Mayor Declared a State of Emergency exists, which was ratified by the City Council at its March 10th meeting.  By declaring a State of Emergency, the City has the ability to activate emergency services and receive state and federal funding as needed.

Representatives from the City, School District, Sewer District, Library, Senior Center, and Chamber of Commerce have met, and will continue to partner and provide updates when new information is available.

Additional proactive steps the City is taking include:

  • Cleaning the City Hall public entryway twice per day
  • Canceling meetings with more than 10 attendees (with the exception of City Council meetings)
  • Practicing and promoting good hygiene such as frequent hand washing
  • Allowing remote participation at City Council, Board and Commission meetings
  • Implementing an emergency action plan for City operations
  • Encouraging employees to stay home if they’re sick
  • Practicing social distancing when possible
  • Meeting at least weekly to assess the situation and make adjustments as necessary
  • Passing out public health information on how to protect yourself against COVID-19

For more information on staying healthy and COVID-19, please visit the Snohomish Health District web page at:  https://www.snohd.org/484/Novel-Coronavirus-2019.

The Snohomish Health District poster, “Worried About Flu or Coronavirus” is available at City Hall as an 11x17 inch poster, printed on poster board, for use by businesses and other organizations.
