[ARCHIVED] Annual City Treatment of Lake Stevens

North Cove Park-8

Public Notice

The City will be treating Lake Stevens for noxious and nuisance aquatic vegetation the week of July 18th. Signs will be posted at the treatment locations, on the day of treatment, warning the public of the recreation precautions at those locations. A map of the treatment locations can be accessed here

There is a 24-HR swimming precaution at the treatment locations. These precautions are only present at the treatment locations, but swimmers should be advised of the treatment on the Lake.

The City performs annual treatment of Lake Stevens under the Aquatic Plant & Algae Management General Permit issued by the Washington Department of Ecology. The City has contracted with Aquatechnex, a licensed contractor, to survey Lake Stevens for noxious weeds and native nuisance plants and apply treatment based on the survey results.

Lake Stevens wouldn’t be Lake Stevens without the lake, because of that, the City is taking steps to ensure the beneficial uses of the lake are maintained. To learn more about the treatment that will be applied and the history of treatment, please visit the website developed by Aquatechnex that outlines what to expect from the treatment, precautions, and history of treatment at Lake Stevens. Lake Stevens Noxious Aquatic Weed and Phosphorus Management Program – The 2022 Eurasian Milfoil and Phosphorus Control Program (wordpress.com)
