As a city and community, Lake Stevens is growing and expanding. The City of Lake Stevens is embarking on a comprehensive project to improve the Main Street infrastructure near North Cove Park — including new curb, gutter, planters, a multi-use path, an improved sidewalk, along with much needed utilities upgrades. With urban design improvements aimed at uplifting the downtown atmosphere, the City’s mission is to create an inviting, sustainable, and vibrant city center.
The community is invited to sign up for project updates on the Main Street Improvements page.
The exact dates and times, including any needed closures, will be announced when scheduled. The tentative timeline for the two projects, scheduled for 2024, are the Lake Stevens Sewer District’s Sewer Project and the City’s Main Street Project.
- The Sewer Project will begin during the summer and will have minimal impact to the downtown area near North Cove Park. The public will be able to access the park the entire time, including the boat ramp area. However, if the main entry to the North Cove boat launch needs to close for a few days, access to the boat launch will be through Mill Spur. Large scale events held at North Cove Park, like 4th of July, will not be affected.
- Once the Sewer Project is completed, the City’s Main Street Project is expected to begin the first week of August. North Cove Park and the boat launch will always have at least one access point open. However, the construction will potentially affect park use, including rentals at The Mill on Lake Stevens and North Cove Park, with congested traffic, no on-street parking, limited pedestrian access in and out of the park area, and construction noise.
The City remains committed to keeping the community informed of traffic pattern changes, progress, and updates to this project, when available.
