[ARCHIVED] Summertime is here, and the lake is warming!

Davies Beach

Summertime is here, and the lake is warming!

As a side effect, blooms of algae can sometimes come from fertilizers in the lake. If you see what looks like a blue-green algae bloom, we have the following advice:

🔹 When in doubt, stay out! Avoiding contact with water that has toxic algae, to save you and your pets trouble.

🔹 Contact the City’s Surface Water Division by email – surfacewater@lakestevenswa.gov and let us know what, where, and when you saw something of concern.

🔹 Most types of algae are not toxic, but it is not always easy to know when the toxic kind is present.

If you have questions, please contact the Surface Water Division at the email above. Thank you!
