Mayor's Office
- At the April 15, 2025, city council meeting, Mayor Brett Gailey presented the State of the City address. He discussed the city’s 2024 accomplishments, including APWA accreditation and the opening of West Lake Park. He talked about our goals for 2025, including capital projects and the new city hall campus. Mayor Gailey also took time to thank our community partners whose contributions and collaborations help support our residents and quality of life. As the city continues to grow, we will strive to continue to make Lake Stevens a great place for our residents to live, work, and play. - The city is hiring Police Officers to fill current vacancies and have an expedited hiring process for entry level, entry level advanced, and lateral officers. - Have you considered improving your problem solving and facilitation skills? The city has a few spots left for the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification fall session. Classes are on Tuesdays from September 16th - December 2nd from 8:30am - 12:30pm. No classes on October 21st and November 11th. What will you get out of the course? You will learn how to identify a problem, understand what is causing it, and improve the way things get done. This course is open to anyone, and it is applicable to work in every industry. - Update as of July 29, 2025: Last week, many invasive Asian clams washed up along the shoreline. City staff investigated the event, and while this may lead to short-term nutrient spikes, there’s no risk to public health, and lake water remains safe for recreation. - Starting July 14, 2025, through Friday, August 22, 2025, there is a 24-hour closure along 20th Street NE, between 125th Avenue NE and 127th Avenue NE, and along 125th Avenue NE, between 18th Street NE north to the driveway access. - We want to hear from you! Partnering with the Snohomish Conservation District, the city has created a space to engage with residents about Lake Stevens' water quality. Take a survey or join a discussion board to learn, interact, and build community around the lake we all love. - Stormwater facility inspections are underway! Help us keep you informed about your stormwater facilities. The city's Environmental Programs team is building a public-facing page to share facility health and maintenance information for stormwater systems in our community. In this first phase, we are collecting up-to-date contact information for Homeowners Associations (HOAs) and private developments responsible for facility maintenance. If you manage or represent a development or HOA, please provide your contact details. This ensures you will receive timely updates about inspections and facility health; maintenance guidance and resources; and notifications about issues that may affect your property. Working together, we can help protect our local waterways and ensure stormwater systems are functioning as intended. - Join us for Movies in the Park on Fridays, August 8 and August 22, 2025, at Lundeen Park. Bring the family and a blanket and join us for pre-movie activities, movies begin at dusk, approximately 30 minutes after event start times. August 8 - "Elemental" rated G; activities begin at 8:15 PM. August 22 - "The Goonies" rated PG; activities begin at 7:45 PM; due to weather delays, this was last year's live action choice. - Parking will be enforced at North Cove and Davies Beach boat launches; $100 citations will be issued for parking violations. Per LSMC 7.12.090: Failure to display valid permit or receipt for paying day use fees. Cars parked in designated boat trailer stalls. Citations are issued by the Lake Stevens Police Department and directed to the Marysville Court for processing. Citations will be issued for non-payment of fees. - The Discover Pass will no longer be accepted at the North Cove boat launch after November 30, 2025. Visit the City's boat launch page for information on which passes are accepted. https://www.lakestevenswa.gov/boatlaunch
- With the ongoing construction occurring on Main Street in the North Cove Park area, during summer 2025, there is an increase in traffic congestion and changing traffic detours. To minimize boat launching times, community boaters are encouraged to use the Davies Beach boat launch for water access instead of the North Cove boat launch.

- Get ready for the ultimate battle between your local heroes at the GUNS and HOSES Softball Charity Game! Join us Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 4:00 pm, at the Lake Stevens Community Park for an afternoon of fun and community spirit, while supporting a great cause. We will be collecting soup and cereal donations for the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank. Let’s make a difference in the lives of those struggling with hunger in our community! Come cheer for the Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue and Lake Stevens Police Department as we go head-to-head on the softball field. Let’s hit a home run against hunger together!
- National Night Out is August 5, 2025, from 6 pm - 8 pm, at the Trestle Station located at 8011 20th St SE, Lake Stevens. Stop by to visit with your first responders.
- Are you curious what your police department does to make the City of Lake Stevens a great place to live and work? The 2025 Citizens’ Academy is a free, 9-week course starting on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. A background check is required for all participants. The deadline to apply is Monday, September 15, 2025. Classes are held at the Lake Stevens Police Department Training Center located at 1825 South Lake Stevens Road. - The Lake Stevens Ballot Drop Box near the North Cove boat launch is open and operational for the August 5th Primary Election. Another option is to return your ballot by mail, simply drop your ballot in a mailbox, no postage necessary. Mail-in ballots must be in the box before the last pick-up time on Election Day to be postmarked on time.
