The City is testing a new street design to make walking safer and slow down traffic. As part of a temporary pilot project, 117th and 116th Ave NE will become one-way streets. One lane on each street will be turned into a path for people walking. During the pilot vehicles will go north on 117th Avenue NE, and vehicles will go south on 116th Avenue NE.
This project aims to create safer routes for people walking in areas that currently don’t have sidewalks. The City will track traffic speeds, safety, and public feedback to help decide if this design should become permanent.
To learn more about the pilot project, the city is hosting two open houses in April.
