Zoning Code Update
Citizen Advisory Committee
As the city continues to grow and annex territories, city leaders are assessing the remaining inventory of developable land and would like to evaluate current zoning standards.
The city of Lake Stevens is accepting volunteers and nominations, for individuals interested in the residential growth and development in Lake Stevens, to form a Citizen Advisory Committee. This committee would collaborate with city staff and the Planning Commission on potential changes to the city’s zoning code. The project will address several main themes.
• Land use & zoning
• Infill development
• Variable standards to achieve diverse neighborhoods
• Development standards & urban design
• Promote affordable / attainable housing goals
• Recreational opportunities & community spaces
As the city embarks on its review of zoning regulations, it is important that the city have representation from a variety of interests throughout the process. To facilitate this process, city staff is contacting service groups, residents of the city and unincorporated areas and developers to request volunteers or nominations of strong, civic-minded individuals who would like to serve on the Citizen Advisory Committee. Broad representation will ensure that the plan reflects the goals and needs of the community.
If you have interest, or know someone who would be interested, in participating in this role, please contact me at rwright@lakestevenswa.gov or 425-622-9424. All volunteer requests and nominations should be submitted by 5:00 pm November 30, 2018.
