[ARCHIVED] CITY REPSONSE TO COVID-19 (CORONAVIARUS)

With the spread of the coronavirus through Western Washington, the City is proactively taking steps to ensure the health and safety of its residents.  On May 5, 2020 the Mayor Declared a State of Emergency exists.  This will be ratified by the City Council at its May 10th Council meeting.  By declaring a State of Emergency, the City will have the ability to activate emergency services and receive state and federal funding as needed. 

Additional proactive steps the City is taking as deemed necessary include the following:

  • Cleaning of City Hall public entryway twice per day
  • Canceling meetings over 10 people
  • Practicing and promoting good hygiene such as frequent hand washing using soap and water
  • Cover your mouth/nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing
  • Initiating remote participation to critical meetings such as City Council meetings
  • Implementing an emergency action plan for city operations such as City Hall, Police and Public Works
  • Employees are encouraged to stay home if they’re sick
  • Practicing social distancing when possible
  • City staff are meeting weekly assessing the situation and making adjustments as necessary
  • Passing out public health information on how to protect yourself against Corvid 19 Virus
