The City of Lake Stevens is seeking applicants for one vacancy (potentially two) on the Salary Commission. The Salary Commission is established in LSMC 2.51 for the purpose of establishing the salaries of elected officials on realistic standards so that elected officials are paid in accordance with their duties and so that citizens of the highest quality are attracted to public service (LSMC 2.51.010).
The Salary Commission meets annually between January 1 and November 1 to study and establish the salaries of elected officials. The specific duties are set forth in LSMC 2.51.050. Meetings are scheduled by the Staff Liaison.
Eligibility to hold a Salary Commission position is set forth in Lake Stevens Municipal Code Section 2.51.020(b) which requires that members must be a U.S. citizen, and a resident of the City of Lake Stevens for at least one year preceding appointment. Salary Commissioners serve without compensation for three-year terms.
