In honor of Councilmember Marcus Tageant, at the City Council meeting held on June 3, 2025, councilmembers shared fond memories and heartwarming stories. Marcus was a dedicated public servant, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, business leader, and lifelong resident of Lake Stevens.
He was an advocate for his community, serving on the Lake Stevens City Council since 2009 and was a member of the Park Board, Utility Committee, and Veterans Commission. He played a key role in promoting economic development, enhancing public safety, and improving local infrastructure. His leadership was particularly evident in efforts to expand parks and recreational facilities, including the development of North Cove and Cavalero parks.
Beyond his professional achievements, Marcus was a committed volunteer. He was actively involved with the Lake Stevens Kiwanis, the Greater Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce, and the American Legion. His dedication to service and love for the community were evident in all aspects of his life.
The sudden passing of Councilmember Marcus Tageant is a considerable loss to our city. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. The City of Lake Stevens will honor his legacy by continuing the work he was so passionate about. He is greatly missed, and the City of Lake Stevens will strive to uphold his vision for the community.
