Museums are uniquely positioned to blend education and recreation in ways that can challenge and catalyze communities. The City of Lake Stevens, in collaboration with the Lake Stevens Historical Society, wants to engage the community on ways to meet the public’s needs and expectations for the new Lake Stevens Historical Museum proposed near North Cove Park.
The key objectives of this new museum are to continue to collect, preserve and allow firsthand access to the heritage and culture of Lake Stevens, offer opportunities for individuals and groups to gather and interact, and provide an efficient and financially sustainable facility that services Lake Stevens residents and visitors.
The City will fund and construct a new facility next to the relocated Grimm House to house the Lake Stevens Historical Museum, based upon funding availability. Interior design construction depends on future funding through the Historical Society. The design of the museum is underway; City staff has been working with the Historical Society on design specifications.
