Alerts & Notifications

The City of Lake Stevens and Snohomish County use a few different methods to get important information to people before, during and after an emergency or disaster.

Snohomish County Notifications

Snohomish County has a few different systems to communicate important information to the public in emergencies. Some of the methods include SnoCoAlerts, GovDelivery, and Smart911. Check out the Public Alert Resources page on Snohomish County's website for more information and resources.

SnoCoAlerts
SnoCoAlerts is Snohomish County’s official emergency alert system, powered by Smart911. Residents can sign up to receive notifications about specific hazards and events in their area via text, email, or phone call.
👉 Sign-up is required at SnoCo Alerts.

Smart911
Smart911 allows residents to create a personal safety profile that can be shared with emergency responders during a 911 call. This can include medical conditions, household details, and emergency contacts—helping first responders act quickly and effectively.
👉 Sign-up is encouraged at https://www.smart911.com.

Emergency Alert System (EAS)
The EAS is a national public warning system that delivers emergency messages through television, radio, and cable systems. It is used for severe weather alerts, AMBER alerts, and other critical notifications.
✅ No sign-up is required—EAS messages are automatically broadcast to the public.

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
WEAs are short, text-like messages sent to mobile devices in a targeted area. These alerts are used for urgent threats such as floods, wildfires, severe storms, and missing children (AMBER alerts).
✅ No sign-up is required—WEAs are automatically sent to compatible mobile phones based on location.

NOAA Weather Radio (NWR)
NWR is a nationwide network of radio stations that continuously broadcast weather updates and emergency information specific to your location. It’s a reliable backup when other communication systems are down.
📻 Requires a NOAA Weather Radio receiver, available at most electronics retailers.
