What is an Interlocal Agreement?
An interlocal agreement is where local public agencies work together to provide more efficient, less costly public service. As a result, it also ends mutually beneficial for the public agencies involved as saving the public money, saves them money.
RCW 39.34 permits a local government to enter into interlocal agreements with other public agencies in the interest of cooperatively sharing resources for their mutual benefit. In accordance with RCW 39.34 the City of Lake Stevens has executed interlocal agreements with other public agencies for various purposes over the years.
